Genesis

We're getting back into our 14-year long study of the book of Genesis. I'm kidding about the 14 years. It might be more like 16. Anyway, we're picking up the narrative late in Abraham's life, when Isaac meets and marries Rebekah, and will continue through the stories of Jacob and Esau. You should come. It'll be fun. Over and out.

 Empowered by Grace

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

There is deep spiritual truth revealed in the writings of the New Testament, and we need to understand them. So our purpose for this course is to take those great truths and make them understandable. This is a study through the very foundational principles of our salvation.

Spiritual Warfare

There are many people who talk about spiritual warfare and it is mentioned in the Bible but what it is?  We are going to discuss what it is, where are the boundaries concerning it, and the battlegrounds the enemy uses to push his agenda.  The battlefields are the mind, the church, and the heavenly places. We are going to break down the normal church references to this subject to understand what it really means to us. We will look at how humility is the greatest weapon we have against the enemy and we are going to arm ourselves for battle!  For our families, our churches and ultimately the world.

Why So Many Translations?

In this class Pastor Robb will be looking at several passages of scripture from different translations, talk about how the translations were made, and apply them to our study. The end result will be a much deeper, richer encounter with God’s Word.

The Noble Fight: A Strategy for Victory for Every Believer

Our DEEPER course for the first session in 2017 comes from 1 Timothy 6:11-16. Paul concludes this Pastoral Letter with a series of "military-like" commands that are to be a distinguishing characteristic for Timothy, and for all who desire to live victoriously in the Christian life. Look at these phrases: "But As For You; Flee; Pursue; Fight; Seize; Keep; Give Honor." Like soldiers preparing to enter the battle, Paul gives the "Rules of engagement" that every believer needs. Did you know there are times, and circumstances, where we need to flee? And when, and what are we to pursue? If Christ has "already won the victory" why does Paul tell us to fight? These instructions are a "Strategy for Victory", and we need to know them. Join us for 6-weeks of advanced infantry training.

Join us to find out how to prepare for the empty nest and how to live in the empty nest in victory. Week 1: Introduction and i'm having a midlife crisis. Week 2: Let go of past martial disappointments and create a partner focused marriage. Week 3: Effective communication. Week 4: Learn how to use anger and conflict to build a deeper friendship with your spouse. Week 5: Sexual relationship with your spouse and dealing with aging parents. Week 6: Growing closer with each other and serving God together.

Genesis

Back to Genesis! In this session, we will be in chapters 18-23. We will see the power of a believer's prayer as Abraham intercedes for Sodom and Gomorrah. We will be in awe of God's power and justice in His destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. We will finally witness the birth of Isaac, the promised son, and see the dysfunction in this complicated family. We will marvel at the pinnacle of Abraham's faith: his willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac. Good times. Mmmmmmmm. Good times.

Tools to Understanding the Prophetic: Person and Office

The typical person has a narrow view of the occupation of the Prophet. It is interesting that for years the prophet has been taught about by pastors and teachers in spite of the prophet being the expert on his or her vocation; not being accepted for who they are because of fear and abuse of the office. We have been taught that they give words from God and they do; however that is the smallest part of what God requires of them. We are going to allow the Bible to define the Prophet and broaden your understanding of the scope of their assignment. We will go over the different types of prophets, the different ways God speaks to them, the attributes of a prophet and the effect of a prophet's word. We will also look at when and how a prophet becomes a prophet, how we discern the learning prophet from the false. My goal is to deepen your understanding of the Prophet which will take away fear and give you tools to understanding them better.

John

The woman at the well, the lame man at the pool, the feeding of the 5,000. These are some of the amazing stories that will inspire and instruct us as we continue our study through the gospel of John. We will study chapters 4-6 in this session. That's it. Wow, that's a short description. Everyone else always writes a much longer description. So, I'll add a few words here to make it look like a longer paragraph. Platypus. What a weird word. And what a weird animal.

 He Delights In Mercy

Micah 7:18 "He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy." One of the most wonderful words of the Scriptures is,"mercy".  Whether studied from its usage in the Old Testament, or as one of the glorious doctrines established in the New Testament, it is hard to define, but beautifully translated. It is: Compassion; Covenant Love; Loving Kindness; Faithful Love; Pity; and of courseMercy.  Our course will study this glorious theme as we go from passage and context into application and the establishment of these principles in our lives. We will find that, "He delights in mercy..." is a statement that applies in two ways: 1) God delights in showing us His mercy; and 2) God delights when we show mercy to others.  Join me in this revealing and God exalting study!
