Why So Many Translations?
KJV, NKJV, ESV, NIV, NLT, NASB, the Message, the Voice, the Mirror. There are more translations of the Bible than we can shake a stick at (honestly, I have no idea what that phrase even means. I could shake a stick at A LOT of translations....). Why do we need that many? Why are they so different from each other? Which one is best? In this class, we will look at several passages of Scripture from several translations, talk about how the translations were made, and apply them to our study. The end result will be a much deeper, richer encounter with God's Word. This is the longest class description I've ever written. If you're still reading all the way down here, give yourself a high five.

To The Praise of His Glory: Ephesians 1:1-14
In [Christ Jesus] we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.
Our DEEPER course for session 2 in 2017 comes from one of the most glorious passages of the New Testament. This is the first of a series of studies from the Letter to the Ephesians. We will periodically return to study the Letter by sections – each one fitting to the theme of this great Book.
Ephesians 1:3-14 is “one sentence” in the Greek language.
· It is both simple and profound; it is focused, yet covering eternity past to eternity future.
· The work of God the Father is chiefly described in verses 3–6; the work of the Lord Jesus Christ in verses 7–10; and the work of the Holy Spirit in verses 11–14.
· The passage also provides a view of Redemption History:
the past blessing of election (verses 4–6),
the present blessing of adoption (verses 5–8),
and the future blessing of unification with God (verses 9–10).
This is a study designed to teach the great and intricate purpose of God by which we were saved, the glorious blessings we have received, and the Eternal plan of God’s gracious love through Jesus Christ. It is all, “To the praise of His glory!”
