Imagine being Adam. Your spirit has just been created by God and your body formed out of the dust of the ground. At the time God breathes into your nostrils and you draw your first breath, you are a full grown person. You have never gone through the process of birth and growing up. Next of all, you have never had a thought. Your mind is a clean slate. What would be the first words spoken to a person with a clean slate for a mind? God’s first word to Adam tells us what God’s main thought is for us, “Be fruitful.”
The Hebrew of this word does not mean to have children. That was the next word which was “multiply.” The word for “fruitful” means increase. Adam had that thought in mind from that day on no matter what he set out to do.
How about you? Instead of looking at your day as a time of decrease or just getting along, see it as an opportunity to increase everything you put your hand to. Take an example from the first words spoken to man and the first thought given to him, “Be fruitful, increase.”
Paul asked the Colossian congregation to pray for him that he would have open doors to preach the gospel. An open door is an opportunity. Not just any opportunity, but a divine one. As Christians, we often want to take advantage of every opportunity that comes our way, as if opportunity was just circumstance. There is natural opportunity, I do not want you to think there is not, but there are divine opportunities we can pray for. We should seize every natural circumstance which comes into our lives, but we should also be praying for those divine times, when God has opened a supernatural door to us. Those are not left in God’s hands, but also in ours to pray for. Why not make this week a supernatural seven days of asking God to arrange your days. Pray and begin to expect people and blessings to find you.
Jesus told us, “Take no thought (do not worry) for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Matthew 6:34) He was speaking to His disciples about the necessities of life in the verses before. We do not need to worry about where our food, clothing or shelter is going to come from in the days to come. God, who takes care of birds and flowers will take care of us, His children.
Worry is always future. We know God has provided for each day until now, but we worry about tomorrow. Will God provide then. The God who has provided until now will continue to provide in the days to come. We not only need to end our worry about the necessities of life, but also end our worry about what our life will be like tomorrow.
What Jesus was telling us was to only be concerned with today. God gives sufficient grace each day for the evil we will face that day. So, when tomorrow becomes today, we will have sufficient grace to handle that day’s problems. We will one day end up like David and be able to say, “I once was young, but now am old, yet have I never seen the righteous forsaken or His seed begging bread.”
Romans 5:1:
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
We enter God’s plan receiving a supernatural peace. Peace is what the world is looking for. We see peace marches and peace demonstrations around the world. Those who want to return quickly from the war say they want world peace. External peace is not possible without internal peace first. Adam and Eve tried to be at peace with each other by making clothes out of leaves. They then supposed they would have peace with God. Man has tried this for centuries. They believe if men can get along with each other, they can receive acceptance from God. We must be accepted by God first before we can have peace with each other.
God’s plan of peace begins with the new birth. The angels announced this peace at the birth of Jesus. Part of our battle gear is our feet covered with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Isaiah tells us our message is the beauty on the mountains of the feet bringing glad tidings of peace. Paul tells us when we are reconciled we have peace with God.
Today would be a good day for you to tell someone about the supernatural peace you have with God.
